Is Radiation Therapy Right for Me?

This treatment is ideal for patients who have existing medical condition that may make surgery a serious health risk. Radiation therapy is an excellent alternative to surgical procedures because it does not leave a surgical scar. This is especially important for patients who have non-melanoma skin cancer in places where scarring would affect their appearance, such as the central face, nose or lips. Will I Need to Go to the Hospital for Radiation Therapy?

No. You may simply park outside the building walk in and treatments take only a few minutes start to finish. Dr .Kent’s Radiologic Technologist performs the treatment for non-melanoma skin cancers here in the comfort of our office. Appointments are scheduled at patient’s convenience

Will I Have General or Local Anesthesia During Radiation Therapy?

Actually, no anesthesia is required as treatments are painless. Patients remain comfortable during the procedure.

What Does the Treatment Site Look Like During and After Treatment and What About Local Care Following Treatment?

The area treated will gradually turn pink and become scaly for several weeks then clear. The treatment site is simply cleaned with soap and water and requires no topical ointments or bandages.
