Superficial Radiation Therapy

Macon Skincare Exam

Skin Care Physicians of Georgia is pleased to offer patients in Central Georgia the latest in successful non -surgical management of skin cancers.

We now offer a painless, safe, and highly effective non-surgical option for skin cancer treatment— Superficial Radiation Therapy using Sensus Healthcare’s SRT-100™.

This new non-surgical skin cancer treatment with the SRT-100™ delivers a precise, calibrated dose of Superficial Radiation Therapy that only goes skin deep. This low-dose of radiation safely destroys non-melanoma skin cancer cells (basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma) without damaging healthy surrounding tissue. There is no cutting or stitching, and no need for reconstructive surgery.. The cure rate is 95% or higher, compared to the 98-99% cure rate for the Mohs Surgery.

The Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT) system is a compact, state-of-the art system that helps eliminate skin cancer cells. Because the amount of radiation penetrates just a few millimeters below the skin’s surface, SRT-100 treatments can preserve healthy skin cells while still targeting malignant skin cancer cells.
SRT-100 treatments are a safe, effective method the team at Dermatologic Surgery Specialist uses to target basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The low dose of radiation is a quick, non-surgical alternative to surgical options. In addition to the excellent cure rates, patients heal quickly with no restrictions on their lifestyle and no need for reconstructive surgery.
Ideal candidates are individuals that fit the following criteria:
  • Age typically over the age of 65
  • Patients who do not want a surgical scar
  • Patients who may have medical problems that may make them less suitable for surgery including advanced congestive heart failure, lung, liver disease.

This treatment is ideal for patients who have existing medical condition that may make surgery a serious health risk. Radiation therapy is an excellent alternative to surgical procedures because it does not leave a surgical scar. This is especially important for patients who have non-melanoma skin cancer in places where scarring would affect their appearance, such as the central face, nose or lips. During your consultation appointment, Dr. Kent will discuss treatment options that are best suited for your particular skin cancer as each person’s skin cancer is unique.

SRT is a covered service by both commercial insurance carriers and Medicare.
